I have been with Freeserve/Wanadoo/Orange for years, both dial-up and laterly Broadband wireless. Last week I discovered by chance that for the same amount that I was paying monthly I could also have Talk. Why did they not let me know? Any way having discovered this fact for myself I went ahead and ordered it. I then received 2 different emails telling me that I would be receiving my BROADBAND equipment shortly. ??????? Both emails were duplicated = 4 in total. Decided to sit back and see what happened, received a further email again duplicated, giving me my phone number and instructions on how to activate the phone etc. So assumed I was back on track and wasn't about to be signed up for a second broadband account. Couple of days later received an adapter through post so I could plug the phone into the livebox. Went through the proceedure of switching off box etc. Little red phone on box lit up, plugged in phone and ........ zilch. No tone, no nothing. No advice on website and like many others I cannot afford the time or expense of hanging on a telephone trying to find out the problem.
Anyone out there got any clues on why it doesn't work or what I can do?
My landline I have recently switched sevice provider from BT to Post Office, this has not affected my Broadband in any way, would it affect the connection through a broadband box?
See what happens when you try to save money! More trouble than it's worth.
Talk works exclusively over the broadband so as long as the connection's there it should be technically work. I assume the phone works in a normal socket.
Could be the adapter thats fautly and probably the first thing they'll try, replacing it. Try logging into the livebox config pages and seeing if the Talk service (click it's change link on the main page after logging in) has a phone number. Make a note and try emailing them, they should be able to check and make sure it's the right number and send out the adapter without much hastle.
