Does anyone know of an alternative to the Livebox that will still support VOIP calls. I would like to ditch the Livebox but we use the second phone line a lot so I would like to find a modem /router that still allows me to use the Orange VOIP facility.
Thanks

The Second Line service is not a "normal" VOIP service as it has to be configured at Orange's end to recognise only your router (Livebox), and therefore always needs to be reconfigured even for a replacement Livebox (and is not available on other Orange-supplied routers). Acccordingly I found it can't be configured to work with other routers such as the BT business hub which have VOIP ports (although conventional services such as Sipgate - free to receive calls although making calls requires a payment credit - can). You will find a phone will make calls if connected to a VOIP port on a different router, but they'll be passed through your landline unless the VOIP service is configured for the router. If necessary you should be able to get a replacement Livebox on request to Orange e.g. from v1 to v2, but check they can still transfer second line which needs a new application and takes 2 working days.
There have been constant rumours of the Second Line demise, and it's been withdrawn for over a year for new customers, and on newer packages.

Thanks for that, didn't think it would be easy/possible to swap modem.
Orange sent me a Livebox mini to replace my old "Big" Livebox and the voip line had to be registered to the new Livebox bit it only took 10 minutes.
Looks like I'm stuck with the livebox then unless I swap to another ISP (or Orang package, most unlikely!) and buy a separate VOIP service.
Cheers.
