For the last few weeks I have been experiencing biblically slow speeds, i'm talking so slow here that often speedtester will not actually operate. I contacted Orange in India and was given the usual fob off of change your filter, reset your livebox, plug your phone into the master socket blah blah. I was asked to perform 3 BT Speedtests the results being 17, 8 and 3kbps respectively at a variety of times throughout the 24 hour period. At one point I had a flashing Orange light on the box which was the @ light flashing slowly which would indicate a network fault rather than a line problem.
None of this has made any difference apart from between last Tuesday and Friday when the system worked perfectly allowing me to achieve my IP profile of 3000kbps.
Sunday the system has ground to a halt again right down to 3 YES 3kbps according to Speedtester despite my IP profile still at 3000kbps, despite my Livebox showing it can achieve nearly 4000kbps and actually connected at around 3800kbps. Line noise etc are all as they were when it worked OK. I am a fair way from my exchange but this still does not explain why the system worked OK for 3 days last week?
Another phone call last night to Orange saying I had to change the filter, my line must be faulty and I must complete more speed tests. Totally fed up with this unacceptable service. BT have confirmed my line has no faults at all whether it be on an extension or on the master socket, I have swapped 3 filters around to no avail and the connection is so slow I cannot get online to complete yet more speed tests. There are no works being carried out at my exchange either.
Is anyone from Orange in the UK monitoring this board? I'm getting very fed up with being fobbed off by technical support and fed up with not being called back when promised to discuss the problem. I'm just being forced round in circles and not getting anywhere.
Currently struggling to think why I would want to stay with Orange broadband?
I'll try and get on the speedtester later. I tried this morning but after 45 mins I had to go to work so gave up! All the indications point to a network or router issue as my line is OK and even my router shows a good sync speed. I've even tried to ping a few of our servers from home but it can't even do that.
If I swapped i'd probably end up with Sky as I see no point in paying £15 a month for broadband. Fact is until the last few weeks I have been quite happy with Orange. I had an issue earlier this year and that was down to a faulty wire on my extension which also caused noise on the line. I changed the wire and it was fine after that for months. I still have a perfect line with no noise but a useless broadband connection!
Even the tech people don't believe me when I talk about a BT Speedtest result of 3kbps but I took some screen shots of it for my own amusement.
The service has not gone downhill it has basically ceased to operate. I don't think I was ever on LLU I can't remember. All I know is that it said ADSL2+ on the router if that helps.
Unfortunately I cannot be in front of my home pc during the day so i'll have to phone India again later to chase progress. I'll try and post of tech info then too to see if I can build a cache of evidence to throw at Orange when they tell me to change my microfilter for the 100th time.

Secondary DNS server : 193.36.79.100
I've been able to use BT Speedtest for months, far longer ago than the problem started so assume it's not necessarily related to switch from LLU.
Speedtest is tonight saying:
Download speedachieved during the test was - 62 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 1200-4000 Kbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :3692 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 768 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 3000 Kbps
Upload speed achieved during the test was - 553 Kbps
Additional Information:
Upstream Rate IP profile on your line is - 768 Kbps
I'm connected either wired or wireless but for testing it's wired. I've tried speed tests at all times including the middle of the night and it's still rubbish!
Latest test this morning at 06:30 shows 38kbps but a sync of 3692kbps!
Today I need to factory reset my Livebox. Oddly on the 3 other occasions I have done this it hasn't made a difference. They now seem to be satisfied that my line from exchange to router is OK.
Will restart the router this evening and await results. The lady on the phone was very confident this would work, I think she's lying.
