Outlook Express started to refuse to download emails from my freeserve account. Giving the error message that the user id/password combination were incorrect. So I tried to access the emals via the webmail service only to get the same error message.
I wondered if perhaps I needed to log into my account and do the restore account thing on my Pay and Go Account (I don't pay because I went, but I still use the webmail and free email account that I've had for I don't know how many years. I use it daily both on OE and web, so I do log in on a regular basis.) But when I tried to do that I got an account unrecognised message. So no luck there.
BUT. And this is what I am finding strange. My non-orange iPhone has exactly the same settings as my computer for my email account and I'm receiving the emails oin that with no problems - the password and user account combination are working fine - the only trouble is I've never been able to figure out the outgoing maio settings, so I can't reply.
Why would my settings work fine on the iPhone but not on OE or webmail?

I can send emails from my account via Outlook Express using smtp.orangehome.co.uk but I can't receive (pop.orangehome.co.uk).
I tried to register a new account whilst at work (using an Orange broadband connection) but get a message to say that because of my ISP address (Orange) I am denied access to this service ...
mail2web also can't log in, but I'm still receiving fine on my iphone.
I'm having the same problem. My orangehome email account (that came with my Orange broadband) is working OK but my freeserve email account (from dial-up days, but which I still use) is being rejected.
Using Outlook Express it prompts me for my username and password, but doesn't accept them.
Using webmail it says : "We apologise but this account is currently unavailable" but the link it provides for 'More Info' is dead.
I use Orange broadband and Mail on my Apple MAC to send and receive email. I have been away for a couple of weeks and returned to find I can not send email, but can receive it. I CAN send it from my Iphone. I have an old freeserve address.
The message given says:
Verify that you have addressed this message correctly. Check your SMTP server settings in Mail preferences and verify any advanced settings with your system administrator.
Select a different outgoing mail server from the list below or click Try Later to leave the message in your Outbox until it can be sent.
Anyone have any solutions? From bitter experience I've found it better to ask here than to use Orange Help.
