It's very strange my max is 4mb all of a sudden when it used to be a max of 276kb download and 50 upload now it's 401kb and 70 upload.
Weird thing is.
1) My entire I.P range has changed
2) I have Two servers now one located near like my old one and one miles away
3) The super fast one for me 4mb at random goes super slow lower than broadband speed and it seems the 2mb one further away is like a backup?
Weird thing is they didn't even contact me about these changes and i don't understand why i am on two servers (meaning two I.P ranges) it's very weird.
I don't fully understand your post, but if you were on Orange LLU at the telephone exchange, and your IP range has changed to a 2.25.x number, that that is a sign that you have been moved to Orange's bought in WBC service from BT, as Orange decommission their own LLU equipment. Speeds can vary a bit, especially for about 10 days after the transfer as BT's dynamic line management tries to establish a stable speed; but from my experience speeds are better on poorer lines. Orange are supposed to send you an e-mail about this (unspecified) service "improvement", if it applies to you but didn't in my case (although check any spam folder). Not all speed checkers are yet identifying 2.25... as an Orange PCS service.
If you weren't on LLU then ignore this post as it's irrelevant . . .
Sorry if i didn't make it clear, it sounds like you were right merv thanks for the replies.
I used to be on 90 something now it's 2.25.x range, i get around 4mb near the closer one and on the other i get 2mb (the one that gets 4mb sometimes gets really bad speeds at random)
edit: I did get around litrally just about 4 mb because i downloaded something and it was like 401kb from my average of 320kb (that's my old maximum) cheers.
One advantage of WBC is you can check your broadband at the BT checker http://speedtester.BT.com/ (though it can be a bit unreliable sometimes). You only need the phone no. and don't need to specify a service ID. Two issues with WBC can be the line profile = max speed can be significantly below the sync (but can increase so worth checking over time), and speeds can drop due to contention at busy times i.e. evenings! I'm sure others can explain more.
If you can obtain the attenuation and download noise margin and sync speed from your router (access is via http://192.168.1.1 for Livebox and unless you've changed it login/password is admin/admin required to access the details pages but NOT the internet login - don't alter that!!), you can check what speeds you should be able to achieve on http://www.farina1.com/adsl/ .
