About 10 months ago I was tearing my hair out and an early contributor to one of the longest posts ever on speed issues.
For the last 9 months my speed has been OK, BUT does anyone know whether it is still necessary to leave the router on permanently? We worked out in the early days of 20meg that if the router was switched off when the line was checked every 24 hours Orange's crap diagnostic software thought there was a line fault and dropped the maximum speed by about 2 meg per day.
Can anyone confirm if router must be left on? A comment from Orange would be a revelation for once!!
PS I know the router only uses a small amount of power but that's not the point.

I did receive confirmation from 0range that it isn't necessary to leave the router on 24/7 & my experience bears that out. I think this might only be true if you have a steady line with no or little interference or noise as is the case with me.
I reboot occasionally these days but generally mine is on 24/7 when I've a good sync speed.
I leave mine on all the time, although when I have turned it off I seemed to get a bit of a increase in speed but that went back to the way it was soon after, so I don't think it makes much difference.
