Just phoned Orange for my MAC code and guess what.. yep, they won't give it to me. Whilst arguing my case I had the phone hung up on me mid-sentence, so rang up again to be told BT wont accept anymore migrations. So phoned up Zen who accept LLU migrations and they told me they had a conference with BT and Orange the day before and that BT are definately still accepting MAC codes. So phoned up Orange again and told them this and then they said, ok, it's Orange that has decided not to realese them and I would just have to cancel.
Anyone else had to cancel because of no MAC code and how long before you was set-up with an ISP that works?

It depends on who you talk to, I've had no problems getting MAC codes off Orange(I've had 2!).... the only problem is....they don't work.
Looks like I may have to cancel as well....

As a matter of fact, LLU MAC codes are not being given, unless you scream for one. Maybe, just a last ditch effort to save "customers" ???
As i said they do give LLU MACs it will be compulsary in a few moths time anyway.
Why does a customer who has no broadband service or the many other problems that Orange are plagued with have to scream for one? surely if they can't provide a service then its unethical to pervent them going elsewhere or make it as awkward as possible to leave i don't think doin that would save a customer it would put them off even more.
LOL @ save customers.

Try explaining that to the "intelligent" management....End of the day, what matters is the DATA. How many customers are leaving v/s how many are being added. Thats all which matters. The senior people do not bother with whats happening at the micro level, they want only the broader picture. So the lower rung people devise these strategies to save themselves for some time... Eventually the s**t is bound to hit the roof, and then, the seniors will go to another company at an even more senior level...That in short is what happens everywhere....

It will be down to how many LLU MAC codes are actually used. I'd expect 99% of them aren't and the customer ends up cancelling. So the upper management see this as a waste of resources, and wasting the customer's time often annoying them more when they find out their chosen ISP won't accept them and they have to call back to cancel.
Why are you "expecting" that 99% will not be used? Do you have ANY data to substantiate this? Otherwise, it is just a case of using imaginary stats to suit your purpose..... Why on earth will a person call, hold for 15 mins, get his MAC code and not use it? What you are saying sounds ridiculous, because most people I know have called up 3-5 times before they have recd. the MAC code. So you think that 99% of people are calling up Orange, just because they have nothing else to do? Especially since it is not a toll free number

I realise that but it doesnt help the customers who have no service what happens with senior management isnt our concern all we wanted is a service we pay good money for good TS and CS all of which are totally useless, and to prevent people leaving is a total disgrace but Oranges reputation is already ruined anyway. Migration codes are still being issued telling people they aint isnt going to help things matter closed.

Normal MAC codes then yes I'd expect the majority to be used but LLU ones aren't widely accepted. I don't imagine most people who request one check with their new provider beforehand as many really don't know much about LLU or it's implications.
I don't have any stats to back it up which is why I said I expect, as in personal opinion. Anyway if it wasn't a really small figure that actually use them to migrate then why stop giving them out?
Exactly the reason why the problem occurs!!! When TS raises issues, they get escalated into neverland..... the outage in July was predicted and substantiated by TS, yet nothing was done. The attitude of the management appears to be very complacent. They will probably re-brand themselves as "France Telecom ISP" next year and hope that Orange (and its problems) will be forgotten by then.....

I've been on the receiving end many times where "you've sent be a a wrong MAC code!" and then you have to explain the difference between the different types of code. I'm sure many people on here do know the difference but a lot of customers don't know the ins and outs of the ADSL industry, or really care.
Anyway hopefully Ofcom will organise a system which works for everything so everyone ends up happy.
