I am having issues with a desktop PC wireless connection. Firstly the livebox is working both wired and wireless (I can connect to the internet with my PDA). I have set up WEP security which I have entered into my wireless connections in XP. I have a third party wireless LAN card and have tried to connect to the livebox via its software with wireless zero configuration off as well as via XP. Paired mode is ON.
The wireless card finds the livebox. When I try to connect it looks like it is going to and then doesn't. Via the 3rd party software it connects/disconnects/connects/disconnects ad infinitum.
Usually that effect is caused by security or that it's simply unable to establish the connection hence it retries over and over.
First step make sure you've entered the WEP key right, it's best to copy and paste it from the livebox config pages to be extra sure.
Do you know if the wireless card and PDA supports WPA or just WEP?
If one or both don't support WPA then you might be best setting the livebox security to WEP only, if both do WPA then change to WPA only. It's in Configuration > Advanced > Wireless on the config.
