My IP profile has been stuck at 2000k for months now when it should ideally be at 7150k. I have tried talking to tech support but they don't seem to understand what I'm talking about. Customer services just transfer me to tech support and when I email Orange I get copied and pasted "If its 2000k thats all you can get" messages. Now, I for one know that speeds of around 8 meg are possible as every speed test I do with ADSL broadband providers says 8 meg. Is there anything else I can do? Jonathan? Executive office?

I actually had the same problem as this, Don't know if this would help but I reset my router, also I only had my phone plugged into the filter so I thought I wouldn't need to use a splitter cause I only needed to plug the phone in. but as soon as I did this my speed was back up and my IP Profile wasn't stuck any-more. Not sure if this will help in anyway. Good Luck
Tried that several times. It's definitely a problem on 0range's end which requires an IP profile reset. The only problem is that no one at 0range tech support understands what it is that needs to be done. I really need to speak to Jonathan or someone at the executive office.

I was suffering exactly the same problem until last week.
I realised that I my speed seemed be no greater than 2Mb/s a few months back when it had been more normally 4-5 Mb/s, but only decided to tackle Orange two weeks ago. The customer service centre advised running the BT speedtester Three or four times over a few days to confirm what I was saying and then call them back. I did this and it did indeed confirm what I had been saying.
Orange then insisted that they run their usual checklists and line tests which resulted in them telling me the line was OK and the fault was inside my property (and sending me a new filter) - despite me telling them the line was fine and the problem was in how the line had been configured, and offering to send them screen grab of the test results (they were reluctant to provide an e-mail address!)
The key point here is that the BT speedtester reported back that my "configured download throughput speed for this service was 2000k" on the "testing - please wait" page. The actual test result showed an actual ADSL speed of 8128kbps, but with a maximum achievable speed of 2000k!
So after a few more calls where I explained that all is well inside my property and the line is good, Orange offered to send out an engineer but during that conversation, the Orange rep checked my lines config on the BT Wholesale database and advised that my service was a 2Mb/s service but would go above that from time to time
I pointed out that my service was supposed to be up to 8Mb/s and he then passed me to a UK Orange call centre to arrange the engineer visit. I told the UK call centre that it would be a waste of time sending an engineer as all that was required to fix the problem was someone in an office somewhere to check my line configuration as this had been set to 2Mb/s. The Orange rep questioned how I knew this and I told him that I had just been told this by his colleague! He then went to speak to BT Wholesale who advised that i was on a 'b' profile (I think that's what he said) @ 2Mb/s. The Orange rep then advised that a home visit was not required and the limit would be removed by BT within 24 hours. This was indeed the case and I'm now getting speeds of 7Mb/s during off peak hours.
So my advice would be to persevere and call everyday, and call in UK office hours. Get them to check your settings on the BT Wholesale database and ask for an engineer visit. Hopefully they will then ask BTW to correct the config error and raise your service to just below your ADSL speed. Your IP Profile will then rise accordingly.
FYI I'm not a heavy user but am curious as to why my profile was capped by BTW.
BT engineer been out, changed my filters and fronts on the sockets but said the speed to these were all fine.
phoned Orange still got issues as you have had, after checking i was told my profile was wrong and theyde change it to 7mb, sorted this but im still only getting 4ish downspeed, impossible to download late afternoon or evenings and now i can no longer enjoy my gaming as i get booted from everygame high ping 400?
i also tried a different router but no joy.
Why can i download in a morning at say 500 / 600 kbps but then drop to a pathetic 15 / 20 kbps later?
Just got our <a href="http://www.maccodes.co.uk">MAC</a> code from 0range!
Brilliant !! - and where you heading if I may ask ?
BT. As we are already in contract with them for the landline it works out the best option. Gonna go for their package that includes anytime calls and 40Gb download allowance.
