My Livebox is approaching 4 years old, recently I have been experiencing wireless connection issues. The Livebox is connected directly to the master BT socket via the supplied filter, recently replaced as a precaution as I had spares from Orange.
The only machine accessing the connection is my HP laptop running Vista.
The symptoms are that I will lose wireless connection. The laptop tells me that connections are available, but not my own. If I refresh the connections list it will find the Livebox, never with less than 3 bars of signal strength (a nice solid 5 bars if I sit in the same room) but it will not connect, windows diagnostic blames poor signal strength. The Livebox then disappears from the connection list. If i keep refreshing the list until the Livebox shows up for a 2nd time it will now connect fine.
If at any point during this process I connect the laptop to the Livebox via ethernet the internet is there without problems.
Now the real puzzler is that this rarely happens through the day, though it can, but virtually always happens between 1am and 3am. It can happen several times during that time window.
This happens on general browsing, I do not have to be doing anything bandwidth intensive.
This can happen whether my laptop has been on the net for the last 6 hours or was only switched on 5 minutes ago. At no point does the Livebox get hot.
