I am connecting to Orange quickly.
Firewall is ok.
Dial up is ok.
But I noticed that when I connect, sometimes I get servers 195.92.214.xx and I cannot browse any sites at all.
But sometimes I get servers 62.25.196.xxx and I can browse but it has been very slow today.
I haven't contacted Tech Supp because I didn't fancy trying to explain to the Indians.
Anyone else seeing this. Must be an Orange problem?
Try changing your DNS settings to
208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220. This should work....

Thanks for the info - I changed the DNS settings as above but am still see the same behaviour - took 4 attempts to connect before I got a 62.xx.xx.xx server from Orange so I could browse websites.
Is anyone else connected to Orange servers 195.xx.xx.xx and browsing ok?
Is anyone else connected to Wanadoo servers 195.xx.xx.xx and browsing ok?
I don't know which servers I've been getting up to now but for four days now I have been connecting then finding it impossible to browse, as you describe. Disconnect, reconnect, disconnect, reconnect. Looking at the server now I see that I'm on the 62.XXXXXXXXX server. I'm relieved (though hardly surprised) that it doesn't seem to be my modem, phone line etc., but any ideas why this is happening?
I don't know the reason no - I can only put it down to a network routing issue. Next time you connect but cannot browse - see if the server is 195.xx.xx.xx.
The 62.xx.xx.xx servers must be heavily bogged down with traffic because of this. The latency of browsing is like being back on dial up!!!
On Tuesday I hopefully won't have to worry about it any more as I am off to cable internet and ditching Orange.
well it is goodbye Orange and hello Telewest for me - good luck to all you guys out there in Orangeland.
Orange had no quibble about cancelling and I was gone within 10 minutes! Just need to check now that they do cancel my direct debit or I will have to do it.
