Been e-mailling Orange for a while with some terrible speed problems for the past day ive barely got over 100Kbps and i usually get no more than 256Kbps normally when im at home (which is peak times)
My router syncs at around 5200Kbps for download and i did used to get speeds around about that as i am only half a mile from the exchange. However i apparantly went over there Fair usage for peaktimes twice, by downloading about 8GB in peak times over a month(i think it was around about 9GB the second time).
Okay fair enough i downloaded over the usage limits(which i couldnt find stated anywhere anyway and they seem to change depending who i get for customer service) i feel that 8GB is fairly normal for two people using the connection.
Orange have taken it upon themselves to limit my connection to 512KBps at peak times permanently now, which is pretty useless for me as peak times are the only chance i get to use my computer. I resent paying £25 a month for that, and have asked for my MAC code(hopefully i'll get it).
(This was in the e-mail i got today, only warning ive ever had about a permanent restriction, Convenient of them to tell me about that after they applied it eh?)
Quote:
Once the restriction has been applied your usage will be monitored
(during peak and off-peak hours) for about Three months from this date
and if this has been reduced to within the fair usage policy, your
original connection speed will be restored. If a customer breach's our
fair usage policy for a second time, the speed restriction is applied
permanently.
