I can't believe how slow my broadband connection is now, I bypassed my router and only using a Dlink 300T ADSL modem like I have been for years with no problems. Is it time to switch to Virgin? I've done the silent line test and couldn't hear any noise.

And being that close to your local exchange, you would expect an excellent connection.....is it in you back garden ?
The modem/router is connected at maximum 8128kbps for the IPStream service, so it looks like some interference has dropped the IP Profile which may have stuck. Have you had any disconnections recently or have you been switching the router on and off repeatedly ?
Can you run www.speedtester.BT.com and post the results back here please.
Thanks for the reply / help. We haven't had any disconnections, I saw a BT guy fiddling with the phone lines outside a few days ago after I noticed the poor speed.
The reason for the slow speed is the 500kbps IP Profile.
Your downstream SNRM is shown as 10dB so it would seem there has been a noise incident but it is now recovering.
Keep checking on www.speedtester.BT.com daily or even twice daily because the IP Profile should begin to recover then the speed will begin to return in line with the Profile.
This may take several days before the Profile reaches the correct one of 7150kbps for the sync of 8128kbps.
