Recently upgraded both computer and Orange Internet Everywhere contract and was provided with a new internet dongle (ZTE MF636 HSUPA USB Modem). Upon connecting it to my new computer, a window popped up declaring I did not have admin privileges to install it (my account is an Admin account). Reasoning that it was down to the upgrades not being installed onto Windows 7 I immediately went to the local pub and used their wireless to install updates to Windows 7.
This stopped the 'Admin privileges' window from popping up and the dongle appeared to start installing correctly, but did not move past the first stage of installation (the first window you see on putting the dongle in the USB port).
I tried installing said dongle onto my old wheezing laptop, alas Vista only recognised the dongle as a cd drive, and not a mass storage device or modem!
I know there is no problem with the dongle, as it appears to install fine on a computer running XP. Also I understand there is a solution to this problem, but cannot find it online.
Although I am enjoying having an excuse frequenting my local more often, I would like solution to this problem before I find myself with a serious alcohol problem! Anybody got any ideas, please?!
