I have a wireless connection set up for my pc, works fine (thanks to this site, not Orange I hasten to add!). I am now attempting to connect my laptop and am having no joy.
The laptop sees the livebox fine, I click connect and "detecting network type..." runs across as usual, then an error message pops up saying
"Windows is unable to connect to the selected network. The network may no longer be in range. Please refresh the list of available networks, and try to connect again"
It then refreshes the list of networks, the livebox comes up again (always with full signal strenght) I try to connect and the same thing happens again.
I have double and triple checked my WEP number, this is correct.
It doesn't seem to be the wireless card as when I tried to connect to one of the other wireless networks showing in the area it simply asked me for my WEP code.
I am getting a wired connection absolutely fine so that doesn't seem to be the problem.
I am sat about a foot away from the box so it can't be that as my PC gets a great connection from the other room.
I have tried to connect with the livebox in pairing mode and without it in pairing mode both no joy.
I can't think of anything else, I have read through the posts and tried everything that has been recommended, can anyone offer me any other tips??
Cheers
P.S: My laptop has a built in wireless card not a third party one.
May be down to the dual security system. Some wireless setups don't like the livebox saying it's WEP and WPA at the same time. If both your systems support WPA you can change it to that within the livebox config.
Configuration > Advanced > Wireless
If both don't support that or it still gives trouble you can try WEP only. Less secure but it deters most potential leechers.
It's already set to WEP only, this was one of the things that I had to do to get it working with my PC originally (before i got my laptop). I've tried changing it back to WEP and WPA but that doesn't make any difference, it just drops my PC's connection.
You did put the livebox into pairing mode by pressing "1" so the antenna is flashing didn't you?
If you go into Security > Associated Devices on the config does it list a wifi entry for every device you've tried to connect? (If it's just the two there ought to be 2 listed)
