I wonder if someone knows if you can replace the livebox completely with another modem/router. The reason I ask is twofold.
Firstly I get wireless connection issues all the time. This manifests itself about once a week and coincides with one of the lights on the box not flashing. I believe when it flashes it is in pairing mode and in that mode I am ok. This is a problem with all my wireless equipment. xbox, iphone(s), laptops, computers, squeezebox etc... The only way to get it back to working is to hardwire into the device and change the channel. This will then restart the pairing and I'll be ok.
I've done the time with customer services who take you through setup disk etc etc blah blah and it solves the problem for another week and then it happens again.
I don't really want a solution now because of my second point.
It will often overheat (I think) and cannot handle lots of connections. When this happens I just have to switch it off for about an hour and then restart. I will also often get it refusing to give out ip addresses from its DCHP server which causes me no end of problems with my other equipment. I have to go through turning off this and that and the reconnecting etc etc.
This is why I want a new modem. I've never used the VOIP feature or the shared printing of the TV thing (its an option but I don't know if it actually does anything) and so I just want the broadband connection.
Does anyone know how to get the information from the livebox that I would need to enter into the new modem (ADSL username/password I'm guessing).
