Incredibly frustrated lately due to the poor service that Orange provides and i guess i am one of many.I recently got 8mb around 2 months ago, however i constantly get around 2.5mb speeds which doesn't bother me too much until i get disconnected every night randomly for no reason then the modem is connected at a different speed too.
I read somewhere about people configuring their thomson 330 modems to work at specific speeds at a more stable level, if this is the case how can it be done? also anyone know what the above error messages mean or how i can stop these random disconnects plus slow speeds?

By looking at the screenshots the easiest way round it is to uninstall your modem completely and reinstall it using your installation disc then go here http://www.speedtouch.co.uk/330.asp to update to the latest high speed drivers for it choose option High Speed Driver (to 8m) the link is for upgrading the Thomsom Speedtouch 330 modem only.

Please note the above link is for the silver 330 modem only.

Actually it's not otherwise they would have a seperate driver section for the red/maroon coloured one and the slimline black version. The only section that is seperate is for the older green stingray shaped one.
The drivers on that page should work with the Three latest versions, also it would be a bit confusing as the data sheet shows only the newer slimline modem.

Hi Elhana
I have used both the green stingray one and the 330 silver and i remember when i upgraded it the link said in bold it was the upgrade for the silver 330 only but that was quiet a while ago but i suppose its best for him to verify it before he downloads it .
Thanks for your input

I've installed it and optimised my modem settings but still get that error however seems slightly faster aswell as being connected at 7.6mb instead of 8.1mb.Getting around 3mb speed max just got to see if the thing disconnects every night now.

Hi Dan
Well i hope you have sorted it i used to use a silver 330 (i assume the 3 different colours mean nothing from what i see on the website )and never experienced any problems with it at all the only times i cudnt connect was with Oranges many outages but ive kept it as a back up.
Let me know if you found out why it was happening have you done an update on your firewall recently? because sometimes that can effect your connection if its adjusted your configurations. 3 Mb isnt a bad speed but once you find out and resolve your connection to solid you can optimise your settings MTU etc for a better speed.

Used the same driver still and it still disconnects.Wierd thing is, it always disconnects late at night, usually around midnight but never in the morning or evening.
My firewall is constantly updated and i am using avast firewall.(could it be this causing it? if so perhaps i should use windows firewall.)

I don't think its your firewall if it disconnetcs at a certain time when i was with Orange i always had disconnections round about 9pm for a while the problem cant be at your end , usually if its the modem or driver or a setting it would disconnect sporadically not round about a certain time.
Btw did you download the update driver so it can cope with an 8Mb connection?

ADSL Max just just the BT system for upto 8 meg. If you're not in an LLU area and on 2 meg you're supposed to be upgraded to it automatically from what I've heard.
I believe they'll continue to move people from IPStream (normal and Max) to LLU when it's available however.
I can't believe this, my modem says connected at 8.1mb like usual, i get around 3mb connection speed on speedtest but now it keeps connecting at 0.2mb speed!!! have i got a virus? my modem messed up perhaps?

Hi Dan
The 8.1Mb is your what your modem is synching at you rarely get what it synchs at but as with yours when i was with Orange my sync was exactly the same and my speed never got over 2.5Mb (I told Orange many times but they wasn't really interested in resolving it) as soon as i changed ISP's my sync is 8.1Mb still my speed averages between 5 and 6.7Mb now although im now on broadband max i doubt if its anything at your end so you would probably be better off not adjusting anything.
