There internet service was new back then. I ordered ADSL with them and then had to test my line which I had to wait for. This involved me phoning them up weekly to see if my line had past the test. This went on for almost six months, my line was always the next one in the queue to be tested (apparently).
Then all of a suddenly out of the blue they told me that my line had passed the test and an engineer would be out in two days to install my equipment and get me up and running. Rather than ask them for a more suitable date and risk losing even more time I agreed to be in for the time arranged. It took me a little persuasion to get the half a day off work which was required to allow the installation to take place. I waited at home for four hours for the elusive BT engineer and then had to go in to work.
Later that night I phoned up BT to see what happened to the engineer. Oddly enough I was told that they knew nothing about an engineer being scheduled to come out and they also advised me that my line failed the test and I could not get ADSL.
So then I got NTL. It took about 7 days to get it installed and I’ve been using them ever since.
On a side note I even sent BT an email complaint about the poor service. I received an email in regards to the poor service SIX months later.
You have to love BT for there amazing service.
