I provide IT support and one of my clients is having issues with his broadband. My client is a judge so his phone line is normally ringfenced (secure line so it can't be traced.) His calls / broadband / mobiles are all Orange.
His phone line and broadband stopped working about 2 weeks ago. They contacted BT and they fixed the problem with the line but the broadband has not start working again. I have tested with another router, filters etc. to make sure it is an external issue.
I have been passed from department to department but with no luck. They originally said it was not a BT line so I phoned BT to have the ringfencing turned off so they can see it ok. The last thing I've been told is that they couldn't take control of his line originally and that I have to phone today to put through the order properly (department is called provisions I think?) This then should apparently let them take control and then they can fix the broadband.
I get the feeling if I ring up again that I'll spend more hours explaining the situation to tech support who refuse to put me through to a supervisor or someone who has a better understanding and overall view of the situation.
Does anyone have any advice as to how I can get this broadband working again without having to speak to people who keep asking me what OS I'm using??
It sounds like the phone and broadband connection was ceased i.e. cancelled and that it was an "accident"...otherwise the phone connection wouldn't have disconnected.
As your client has security implications I think you need to ensure that you are talking to an Orange UK person because this is outside of India's capabilities.
Orange have people in the UK?? Actually they put me through to provisions which was in North Belfast but they just put me back through to tech support and the process started again! They have supposedly put a new order through now for the broadband after telling me there was an incompatible product on the line. I have a reference number for that order so fingers crossed they are telling me the truth. I will ring up next week to find out if it really is going to be activated soon. Have to say I now know why this site exists. I've spent hours on this job.
