Any ideas what i can do? I have been without broadband for over 2 weeks, i moved house and had broadband for about 2 weeks and then it disconnected and i couldn't get it back. The ADSL light on my modem is flashing and i'm gettig a error 680 (no dial tone) message. Over the past two weeks i have had different information from EACH person i have called on the technical helpdesk, often more than once a day. Often im told there is a fault getting fixed only to find out the next day they haven't even done a line test. Got told on friday there was a MSO (major service outage) and then on sat they denied telling me that. Then they called me to let me know on tuesday fault had been fixed... It hadn't. They say they are currently waiting to get fault repair again....
Claire,
Just to let you know you are not alone. I got same problem just over a week ago, have made 15 calls to 'Technical Support' and have decided to get a different provider since am no further forward than a week ago, we just go round in circles. The Indian call centres don't help as they insist on reading the text in front of them in full before you can tell them that you are ringing up for the umpteenth time. I have been advised that it takes 3 days to get a Migration Code ( you need this to get a new provider) so we shall see if this happens by Thursday 15th. To do this you ring the usual 0870 number followed by option 1 then 4 instead of 5. Good luck.
Kind regards
gordond
Hi Gordond
To my suprise i woke up on today (12/6/06) and walked past my computer, building up the strength to make my daily call to wanadoo/orange, and noticed the adsl light was solid and my broadband connected.
It has been almost four weeks but its working fine now. I called and asked what the fault had been, they said that they had found the exchange wasn't syncronising with my modem properly (not entirely sure what that means). I was so close to changing provider. I know exactly what you mean about them repeating the proplem back to you, i mean we know what the problem is, we're the ones calling about it!!!! I actually got a new modem sent out after 2 weeks (as they lied about it being in the post for the first week). When i called to ask when it would arrive i got put on hold for 15mins to be told that i should 'connect my modem when it arrives' and then have that repeated about 12 times.
I'm going try and get my downtime back and my phone bill paid. I can't tell if anyone on the site has managed that yet. I'll let you know if i'm sucessful.
We've been totally without Broadband for over a month thanks to Orange, and now we've asked for the migration code they won't give it to us! Said they'd email in 48 hours (hah, email) and they haven't - does anyone know if we can demand they just tell us it over the phone?
You will receive your MAC code in 3 weeks time... by Email or Post (your choice).......

Takes 48 hours, after that if they have it they can give it over the phone after security checks. it will only take 3 weeks if you let them
Regards
Steve
