They say this deal will be good for Orange customers but as a customer thats never had any problems and great speeds the whole time if been with them, surely it will have an adverse effect on my service provision. Currently getting 14mg download speeds and its been that way since i signed up. Doubtless this will be reduced when we are moved to BT ipstream.

You're not the only one concerned about this move. The 0range service has been good for me once I got past initial problems and as long as I've no need to contact CS then I'm happy.
BT's support is also offshore so that'll be no different unfortunately and BT's rating is not anything special so God knows what we'll end up with.
ADSL24 will be upgrading my exchange to LLU in the near future so if the service deteriorates then that might be an option for me. I'm sure if the service is reduced that'll be justification for getting my MAC key and migrating to ADSL24.
yeah i have noticed also that adsl24 will be upgrading my exchange. But have my fingers crossed that the service wont get that bad cus im sure Orange wont let you out of your contract early. Its just a shame because it looked like Orange was just turning a corner and getting there act together i know people will have other views lol
I wouldn't get unnecessarily worried, the supply side is just being outsourced by Orange to BT.
If you think about it Orange are just a marketing/admin. function they don't actually "work" the LLU, that's down to sub-contractors like Alcatel and Magdalene etc. So in effect there should be no noticeable difference.
It does confirm my query a while ago about the new Orange DLM being so much like the BT DLM system.....it will make BT's job a lot easier working with a system so similar to their own.

yes but I think: "BT will take over Orange’s fixed-line infrastructure and integrate it into its network" means abandoning Orange's exchange equipment and a move over to BT DSLAMs. (And some of the IT press seem to agree).
"Orange are just a marketing/admin. function they don't actually "work" the LLU", - I agree. But despite their protestations, what is the commercial point of them providing fixed broadband - especially as it's part of the T-Mobile tie up which is an independent joint venture and therefore has to live within its means (reading betwen the lines there's no FT funds coming to the UK); and even with any savings they need to invest heavily in the mobile side of things to keep up with the industry. And I'm not sure there are that many T-mobile customers who've never heard of or haven't access to broadband (especially not with their advertising profile!!). It's not as though the competition is about to whither with o2 (now Sky) moving into Home Phone and TT increasing their unbundling and capacity! Unless BT perhaps think like me and expect Orange Broadband to expire pretty soon and they will then pick up the customers before they have the opportunity to leave.
"So in effect there should be no noticeable difference" - I'm not sure; locally on LLU I've had speeds between 15% and 30% above neighbours on BT (though the margin has reduced over the last 12 months, which makes me think this "transfer" may already have been going on - hence your comment on the DLM: could it actually be BT's?), but is still there despite a recent upgrade of the exchange to 21CN.
It strikes me as a panic measure from a desperate company, starting to flounder (or a dicktat from across the channel). And beggars can't be choosy... so I doubt they got a good deal from BT.
Remember that some exchanges have still not been converted to WBC by BT BUT those exchanges already have Orange 20meg LLU.
I reckon that Orange LLU will run alongside BT's own product.....it is an outsourcing arrangement and it's extremely rare for any contract of this type to be integrated into the overall operation. Even Orange employees are being TUPE'd into BT.
