A strange problem has occurred which I am hoping someone can help me with. I am on the Orange 20mb Broadband Max package including the home phone service. Yesterday (Friday 23rd) for no apparent reason the telephone (BT Synergy rechargeable) has gone dead. When you pick it up to use it there is no dialling tone, just silence. I have phoned the number but there is no ringtone and can't be answered. When you pick it up to answer it sounds like it is still ringing from the mobile. After the call, the 'caller display' shows I have rung as if a missed call. The Broadband service is unaffected and works as normal. I have tried some obvious fault finding by disconnecting the main phone from all its filters etc and plugging directly in the main socket and using an old type phone and plugging that straight in the main socket but you still get total silence and no dialling or ringtone. Basically the Broadband is still working 100% but the telephone is completely unusable for incoming or outgoing calls.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Who should I contact BT or Orange assuming it is a fault on the line? Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
Sorry to read of your problems. I work for Orange and may be able to help.
If you can email your landline number/broadband account number and best contact number to customer.services@orange.co.uk, I'll give you a ring to discuss.
So I can pick up your mail quickly, please add 'Jonathan Orange Response' in the first line.
