I seem to only be able to get my connection working between 12am (almost to the second!) and maybe 8am at the best! The first day I had my new netbook it worked well ALL DAY, but now I get errors messages and 'no internet access'.
I see I'm not alone with my troubles and wish I'd know about all these problems before I get suckered into a 24 month deal!
I've phoned Orange to ask what's going on today and was told that they are having 'signal issues' today...is this more bs? will I get a respectable level of internet usage soon? Did I waste my money on a 3gb allowence when I hardly get to us 3mb? ARG! Well, venting helps a bit, but seriously, am I alone with this terrible level of internet access?
Upto a month or so ago, I found it to be the most reliable and quickest it has been for a good year, after some attrocious few months when it was first launched.
But lately, well I wonder whether their backbone/gateway or whatever is basically not upto the job - it did cross my mind that they simply have not scaled their systems with potential increase in users on this service? Either that, some users are doing heavy downloads and killing the bandwidth?
It always connects for me first time. I usually have 5 bars 3G, or 2/3 bars 3g+.
Attempting to use anytime during reasonable hours (i.e. 8am-10pm), it's highly variable in performance. Weekday evenings are impossible sometimes, but others time no so bad. That said, I've had irregular performance at weekends too.
Recently it's become quite frustrating - as soon as it connects (I've tried both PC and MAC), I get about 1 minute or so of access before it then just doesn't go to any pages at all.
If I then click disconnect, it doesn't disconnect properly - it says its disconnected but leave the dongle in a part-locked state - I then have to wait for the solid light to go back to the pulsing one before re-connecting. Re-connect again, visit a few web pages for a few minutes and then cannot get to any websites again.
And so we repeat!
Other times I can go for 3 or 4 hours continuous connectivity without having to disconnect/re-connect.
This is not a 3G connectivity/signal problem, but rather that it just stops - no webpages, email, can't ping anything, etc.
