When I got home from work today and turned on my router, I noticed the internet light was out. I tried restarting the router, the PC, trying 3 other routers, testing the actual line via BT...nothing. I rang Orange four times, and got the same story - as my router is a Netgear one, they can't do anything, and it can't possibly be their fault as despite their system being down they're sure the internet service is working fine in my area.
I naturally refuse to believe this and think for some reason my connection has been stopped, since none of the routers were showing they were getting a connection from the phone line.
I'm at my wits end since I've been told to call back tomorrow when their testing equipment should be fixd to...most likely be told the same rubbish again. I'm thinking of asking for a MAC code and swapping to o2 (now Sky) unless anyone here can shed some light on the situation.

I'd only say switch to o2 (now Sky) only if their own equipment is in your local exchange , ie it's an LLU service they can offer. Don't go with them if it's Access.
Since I ring Orange back this morning and asked for a line test and they said some crap about not being able to access anyone's accounts since their system is down...there's no damn wonder my line is dead if they can't even work their own things.
