Been with Orange broadband for best part o 4 years now and bever really had any issues. However for the last few weeks I have been plagued by appaling connection speeds. Now by line isn't that quick anyway but normally I can get between 2000 and 2700 kbs but I'm struggling to get even 700 right now. My Iplayer on the wii goes mental whinging at me and generally I'm not impressed.
Nothing has changed on my phone line except that accorsing to SamKnows broadband Orange have gone LLU at my local exchange on 20th Jan 2010 which pretty much coincides with the drop in service.
Who do I contact to get this matter fixed as it has been fine for years until a month ago. Whilst I'm not asking for mega speeds it must be possible to improve and make my online experience just a tad more acceptable.
Can you say what is a good ISP - I don't find the statement particularly helpful. I'm sure I could switch to Sky broadband without too much hassle but I'm sure there's plenty to complain about there too.

All 0range LLU exchanges are reporting that date so it means not a lot really. You really need to know what service you're on. With 0range LLU many are having problems as their Dynamic Line Management software isn't quite working right and speeds are getting screwed up.
Go into your router and see what speeds you're syncing at as this will be quite meaningful.
If you're thinking of changing ISP then an LLU ISP is really the only option these days as many ISPs are running out of bandwidth in the evenings when they supply a service based on BT's IPStream.
Good evening all
I had been with Orange and Wanadoo and Freeserve since dial up days. Had speed problems in 2007 and again in 2008 which took quite a long time to sort out so much so that in 2007 I was given quite a lengthy free of charge period to compensate.
Over the last 3-4 months I noticed that my speed was variable from less than a meg to an incledible 9meg. I used the facility on this website to keep a log doing tests as near as possible at the same time and the graph was like a mountain range.
I enquired from a number of people and Sky was the ISP that most were using with regular high speeds and good service. I asked for my MAC code and was changed over last Friday to Sky unlimited upto 20 meg and already I am getting a regular 4 meg and an estimated 10 meg possiblility after DLM period.
Setting up the router etc was easy and very quick, messages sent via phone text telling me when Broadband was to be changed over and when it had been done, so far no complaints about Sky.
Orange have tried to keep me with promises and of course Sky will not be able to give any better as they use the same exchange, yes but not the same equipment.
Sorry to read of the problems you are facing. I can arrange for someone to contact you to pick this up.
Drop me a mail at customer.services@orange.co.uk and I will arrange this for you. Please include your landline/account number and best contact number. Also include 'Jonathan Orange Response' so the mail can be picked up quickly.
