Oh my, i've just put the phone down after speaking to some useless person at Orange...
Like a lot of people i use my internet for gaming, XBOX360 and Modern Warfare 2. Like a lot of Orange customers i get 3 bars but never the full 4, my ping is poor and more recently MW2 tells me my NAT type is 'STRICT' rather than 'OPEN'.
I used to be with AOL but thought a change would be good to consolidate my bills so over to Orange i went along with my telephone and telephone calls. I got all the info through the post, i signed my contract and since then hell has slowly opened up and swallowed me!
So i phone Orange yesterday evening to cancel my contract and get speaking to an OK guy. We do a couple of speed tests (speedtest.net) on my wireless connections and 2/5 go above 1mb the others sit around 0.6mb which he says is poor, he then goes to do some diagnostics but can't - AOL still own my line so he can't test it and re-route it?
****Let's just pause there - I pay Orange £10 a month for my line rental, why do AOL own my line? Is it my fault that Orange don't sort this with AOL, they were quick enough to contact AOL for the MAC code and take my money for the use of this line but they don't actually own it!!!***
So he said they'll sort it and call today, they didn't call, i called them. I speak with this woman who goes through the same stuff but now says it'll take up to 5 days for her escalations team to sort it out, that's sort out the fact that they don't own my line not sort out my slow connection. The really great thing about their CUSTOMER SERVICE is they aren't going to call me when they've sorted it (if they can) i have to call them in 5 days to see how it's going and i can't have a number for the escalations team i have to call the inbetween team - the team that don't have a clue!!!!!!
What can i do? What can they do to help? What can be done?
Hi c0rnland, I work for Orange and may be able to help.
I would like to put you in touch with a colleague for further investigation. Please contact me via customer.services@orange.co.uk, including your landline/account number and I will arrange this for you. Also add 'Jonathan Orange Response' so the mail is forwarded to me quickly.
I waited a week and guess what, the guy i've just got through to informed me that i'm an AOL customer?!?! I've just been told i need to contact AOL? What is going on? Why do i need to contact anyone, why can't they fix it? Surely i can cancel this and more importantly take them to ofcom seeing they charge me for something they don't own (my line) isn't that fraud?
chances are that you will be with them on the broadband side but if you have had your calls with AOL depending on when you signed up for the package when taking over telephone calls and or line rental this can take a little longer
