Hi there,
I took out Orange broadband in october 2008 and at that time, i am sure my contract length for that was 12 months.
I got rid of Orange in novmeber 2009 as they permantly lowered my peak time usage to 512kb (download) which was unacceptable for streaming.
Anyway, got a letter today from Orange threatening legal action if i don't pay them £63.11, this is the first i have heard that i owe them money.
Phoned up C/S and they say some of that is calls (fine with that), but i also owe them £55 for cancellation charge as i was on a 18 month contract.
Can anyone help me with this, i am sure my contract with broadband was 12 months as i took out a mobile contract at the same time which was 18 months. ( i remember this much!)
Not at any point in my cancellation did anyone say i was in my contract period still (back in november). Can anyone help or share similar issues?
Hi Stuart, if you received letter advising that you were being capped due to End User Speed Control and they issued you a MAC code then there should be no cancellation fee - either contact customer support or the broadband care team, they will check your account and remove the cancellation fee if it has been noted that you weere sent an EUSC email.

i don't believe it was that offer, i subscribed to Orange broadband mid october so those dates would mean i would have missed out on that offer.
I am still pretty sure i subscribed to a 12 month contract.
And i asked for the MAC code, i phoned them up and asked if they would uncap me, they said no as already been warned once, so i then asked for my MAC code.

In which case NewApollo is correct. Email CS and/or Executive Office with the details.
ah excellent, that is good news, i simply dont have the money to pay them at the moment anyway, but when they say they will proceed with legal action, this isn't good for my stress levels! hate it when companies do that, such a nasty tactic.
Any idea what the email address of the executive office is?
Had a quick search online but nothing stood out to me.
Again, thanks for your help, i always had a good service from Orange (until they capped me) and that was the reason for leaving them unfortuantly.
thank you very much.
I do hope to get this sorted, my Orange mobile contract is up shortly so the outcome of this will dictate my Orange contract moving over to Three, which is a shame, i have been loyal to Orange for many years, they never put a foot wrong until the permanent capping of my BB then this threat of legal action, which i see they do after looking over the internet, big shame.
You have been great tho Borednow, thank you very much!

Just an update, i wrote an email to customer services last night and got a phone call today.
You were right, as they sent out that capping letter and issued a MAC code, i was not supposed to receive the cancellation fee, so they have cleared that.
They also cleared the phone charges that were still due on my account (about £6 worth).
So i am really happy.
I got an email sent to me as evidence of this in case the debt collectors come round anyway in a few months, but i am happy.
Will be keeping my Orange contract going it seems then
Thanks for your help, without you i would have been really stressed and giving someone at CS some s**t!
