livebox problem continues, after previously being connected wireless, i don't understand why (after trying to install a belkin network card in my old pc to make it wireless - have since removed it and uninstalled all software) i cannot get connected wireless on my laptop, i just keep getting the message limited or no connectivity, and am unable to view web pages, have tried all things with Orange tech help, i think i know as much as them now, have reinstalled the livebox, reset to factory settings, changed channels, disabled my norton security - can anyone help me! i can only connect via ethernet cable. I feel i cam going around in circles, orange can't help anymore, told me to contact hp, hp told me to contact retailer and on it goes, just all the more frustrating as up until a few days ago (before trying to instal the belkin card everything was okay!)
Cross posted from the other thread which I saw first...
DianeS do the wireless connections bring up any pages, including the livebox pages?
In network connections you should have a wireless connection, right click, go into status. Is it showing as connected, if so go into support, what do the address type and IP address show as?
Hi Elhana,
Thanks for your reply, I'm now connected, had to ring Orange tech help yet again, he managed to get me connected for a few seconds then it disconnected, so he came to the conclusion the fault was with my laptop, i decided to have another go myself and the connection held, don't know what was done differently, but i'm so relieved, the whole episode was so frustrating, I wished i'd found this forum earlier. I shall be back if i have any more problems, kind regards, DianeS
Hmm most likely down to interference if it comes and goes like that, connects then suddenly dies. Hopefully it's just temporary and won't come back again now.
Hope so, strange how it only started playing up after trying to install belkin card on pc, but probably all the resetting and everything else that was done to it didn't help, still connected this morning, wonderful no wires again! dread to think what my phone bill will be in, i have spent hours on the phone to Orange! I really want to connect my pc, do you think a Lan cable will be easier? will that be more or less just a case of plugging it in?

In almost all cases, yes. Ethernet is pretty standard and has much less problems than wireless. You can even get cables made to a specific length if needed so you and route it behind furniture and around doors etc.
Thanks for info, I think it might be less traumatic to just plug it in, I don't think i could face another 4 days of hell with my livebox and Orange! If i get any more problems, i'll be posting a msg for help!
My wireless connection to my laptop seems to have settled down again now, its connecting it to my pc that is the problem, have tried a wireless card - nightmare!, so i think it will be easier to just connect the ethernet cable, i presume i have to get a usb adapter, and hopefully it is as straightforward as that, do i have to do any configuring, or will i be on line straight away? and will it upset my wireless connection to my laptop? i don't want to know much,do i!
