Hi,
I had o2 (now Sky) Home Broadband with BT line before. But nearly 2 weeks ago I changed my broadband provider to Orange. (because of prices)
Now I am using Orange broadband with BT line. But I am not happy with it. It is too slow when compared to my old broadband provider.
I have been calling Orange for more than 1 week. (This means I began to call Orange and complain about speed problems when I was using them for 2-4 days.)
Today, when talking with Orange, I said I am not happy with them, and I do not want use them as my provider anymore.
They said they had make an 18 months contract to me!! (without my knowledge, because they did not say anything about contract to me before.) But when I said did not know that I had a contract with Orange, they said, 'you wanted Home Starter package, in that package there is unlimited-weekend call plan, and because of that, they did a 18 months contract to me.' And if I want to cancel it, I need to pay about 110-120 pounds.
I am not happy with Orange at all. My internet is too slow. I can not use Orange for 18 months! How can I cancel my contract with Orange without paying this amount?
When I say I am not satisfied with Orange, they say, there is nothing about slow internet in the satisfaction guarantee.
(My package is 20mbps, but because of my line they had said I would be getting 10mbps, but when check my speed from 'http://www.broadbandspeedchecker.co.uk/'; it is around 4-5mbps in daytime, 2-3mbps in night.)
You must remember that when you signed up with Orange, you should have made yourself aware of ALL the Terms & Conditions of the contract. By entering into the contract you have agreed to all the Terms & Conditions.
You cannot now get out of the contract just because the connection isn't giving you what you thought it would.
If Orange have in any way not complied with those terms then you may have a case for leaving without any cancellation charges.
But first you must give Orange time to provide a connection that satisfies you both.

It seems that with these 20meg packages speed is a significant problem during the stabilisation period.
Unlike other ISPs using LLU (0range terms is "in their network area") 0range can take 5-6 weeks or more to stabilise. Other ISPs take 5-10days. See threads in "Problems with 0range 20meg Broadband".
You seem to be quite fortunate that you're getting more than the 1meg that we get/got.
I'm wondering if you are infact on a proper 20meg package as your speed fluctuations are typical of those on the BT IPstream service where reasonable speeds are seen during the day with a significant drop off during the evening.
I get NO speed variations on my 20meg line at whatever time I check.
Put your post code or phone number into the Exchange Search on the SamKnows webiste here http://www.samknows.com/broadb.../index.php and see what that says about 0range or give us your post code & we'll check for you.
