Got burnt by this this week and a heads up to others may be in order. I confess not to have searched the site for this as my problem was solved.
Should you ever want to use BOTH ethernet ports on your livebox (I was paring stuff back to basics to solve a problem getting wireless out of the equation)
You will find that the Yellow ethernet port will give you an IP address beginning 169. whereas the red port will use 192. If you swap the cables round your devices will get their IP address swapped correspondingly.
It seems that the Livebox YELLOW port is enabled by default for digital TV and Orange have to flip a switch to get it to be ethernet.
