I have tried to find the answer of this problem through Orange support (who directed me to Nokia and the BBC) and have also tried the BBC iplayer forum and Nokia forum.
I can download iplayer programs fine on my Nokia 5800 phone connected to my Orange livebox via wifi but streaming them is pretty much impossible unless its not at a peak time - ie around 4pm to 11pm.
Orange said it was not a problem with their broadband service which should be 8meg but is restricted to 2meg because of the phone line i am on.
I can stream iplayer programs fine on my laptop (at a much higher bit rate than programs streamed on my phone) which is on the same wifi connection as my phone so maybe there is a seperate iplayer server just used for the mobile version of iplayer which can not cope or is restriced by the BBC or Orange - I dont know!
Another thing which is odd - I couldnt log into this site last night from home on my livebox so i am doing this at work on a BT connection!
