hello my partner wanted to change the package we had for the 20 meg cause it's cheaper than the 1 we were on.
But 3 day's in the grace period,we developed a phone line problem(no phone or internet) and it was off all day.
Anyway a BT engineer came out at 7 pm sorted it was a loose wire behind the BT net5 socket.
But since it was sorted i got internet connection straight away, but only was able to download at 0.88 mbps at the most so phoned Orange and told them what had happened and they said that the grace period will restrat again and i will have to wait 10 days again.
well today is the last day and yes my speed has changed but only pushing throught atb 1.7mbps.here are router stats
A2pBT009c1.d17d
Connection mode : ADSL2+
Type : Fast
Noise margin (dB) : 10.8
Attenuation (dB) : 62.0
Attainable download rate (kbps) : 2522
ADSL status : Connected [0]
Downstream Upstream
Rate (kbps) 2046 604
but before it all started they gave me a push thriugh of 3.2
any thing i can or will i have to nag at Orange again to sort this.
llu network but my attentuation was 59.0 orignally, and my noise margin was 10.1 aswell, but they have been able to give more in the past look at this speed test i did last year
With ADSL2+ frequencies used are in the higher ranges which explains why your attenuation is greater.
Quote:
As a signal propagates down a length of cable, it loses some of its energy. So, a signal that starts out with a certain input voltage, will arrive at the load with a reduced voltage level. The amount of signal loss is known as attenuation, which is measured in decibels, or dB. If the voltage drops too much, the signal may no longer be useful.
Attenuation has a direct relationship with frequency and cable length. The higher the frequency used by the network, the greater the attenuation. Also, the longer the cable, the more energy a signal loses by the time it reaches the load.
I would suggest that if Orange drop you back from G.992.5 Annex A to G.992.3 Annex A you would see an improvement.
EDIT : cross posted with the above. That's a much better synch
Unless you've had some repeated disconnections, I can't understand why Orange have your Target SNR set to 9dB.....may be worth asking if they would reduce it to the default 6dB if you haven't experienced any disconns.
i di have some eralyer in the year but now i think it was the wiring behind the socket and now the BT engineer has sorted it maybe now things wil improve!!!
yes that was on adls2+ allways and this connection!!!
Orange are taking the P**s now, have come in from work at 12.30 am and checked my internet and now my router is stating this
ADSL firmware version : A2pBT009c1.d17d
Connection mode : ADSL2+
Type : Fast
Noise margin (dB) : 10.1
Attenuation (dB) : 59.5
Attainable download rate (kbps) : 2961
ADSL status : Connected [0]
Downstream Upstream
Rate (kbps) 2943 604
it was connected for 8 hours and they changed it 22.40 pm why (god knows) so now i am getting slower speeds than the afternoon which i acheved 3.1 mbps at 2.30 pm i think Orange just like to p**s there customers off for there entertainment.
What do you think i should do!!!!
Sorry to read of your problems. I work for Orange and may be able to help.
If you can email your landline number/broadband account number and best contact number to customer.services@orange.co.uk, I'll give you a ring to discuss.
So I can pick up your mail quickly, please add 'Jonathan Orange Response' in the first line.
yeah already been on the phone and complained about it, as per narmal all i get is YOUR LINE CAN ONLY HANDLE NO MORE THAN 2.5 as you can see from the earlyer bit i was connected at 3888 mbps and it was stable for just over 8 hrs then all of a sudden it change my connection speed, orange said they can give me more but they think it's not stable
In my eye's changing after 8 hrs is not giving it long enough, but then again i think if it was going to disconnect it would of done it a lot sooner than 8 hrs don't you think.
after speaking to escalating team about this issue, they stating can i wait to the end of this month and they said i will get the same speed as everybody in the street but, even still they changed my sync speed severel times now since the talk, which always happens very late at night constant connection for 3-4 day's then they change it(doesn;t go up keeps getting lower,or about the same),but what i cant understand is if they say they can provide me with more speed then why not just do it.
They also stated that i am on a 4mb profile so far, so why is it not sync at that cause i had before
can anybody explain to me please, what they might playing at!!!!
I don't know what's happened since July 2009 when your earlier speed tests were done but I can assure you that on the current ADSL2+ connection with an attenuation of ~59dB your router will never synch at a level to give you a throughput of 5Mb/s.
Even with a default 6dB (which you're not on) you'll only see a throughput of 3000kbps.
I can only suggest that www.speedtest.net at that time was returning false data which it does tend to do at times.
With your attenuation, you would be much better off returning to ADSL (G.DMT G.992.1) which is what I think you were on when you returned those earlier speed tests.
so do you think that was on ipsteam or llu cause i am supposed to be on llu network, acording to Orange.
he's sync'd downstream is 3578mbps and he's on a llu network aswell the rest that i know are on ipstream
I think Orange just don't seem to have a clue how to set thing correctly!!!!
3 doors down my mate is on talktalk and his router stats are say he's connection is ADSL nothing else and his noise margin is 6.7 and attentuation is the same as mine 59.0 but his sync'd downstream is 3578mbps and he's on a llu network aswell the rest that i know are on ipstream
I think Orange just don't seem to have a clue how to set thing correctly!!!!
