Ok, here goes. We have been customers of Orange broadband, formerly Wanadoo, formerly Freeserve for years and years now - with relatively few problems. Currently we are on the 8meg unlimited package, and used to get a fairly reasonably 3-6mb download speed until the last week or so where it has nearly always been less than a 1mb ranging from about 0.2 to 0.9 over a bunch of tests from various websites.
BT speedtester result:
Download speedachieved during the test was - 290 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 600-7150 Kbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :7616 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 6500 Kbps
If anyone can help assess the problem or any advice at all, it'd be appreciated as this speed is practically making the internet connection redundant for our usage.
I used to use torrents, but not at all these days. Probably the heaviest use of the internet and one that requires at least a half decent connection is online gaming over Xbox Live. Sometimes the BBC iPlayer is used but not to a massive extent.
Apologies for bumping my thread, was there any solutions that I can do on my end to solve this as the problem is still not gone. Or is it just something that's going to become the norm, regardless of ISP?
