I am intending to upgrade from Vista to Windows 7 as soon as I can. I was advised by telephone, in answer to an email I sent to Orange support, that W7 drivers for Icon 225 were on www.orange.co.uk/updates. They weren't, only XP and Vista.
So I phoned mobile broadband help and spoke to a gentleman who informed me that the drivers for Internet Everywhere Vista would work with W7 but he couldn't guarantee it as, he said, "we have to try them out"
Does anyone know the position
I know Orange's position and that is that they do not currently have any drivers for windows 7. Some of the dongles work a treat on it though and some will even work without the software and all you ned to do is set up a manual dial up connection but this is only if when you plug in the dongle the operating system succesfully installs the device itself. You will get no joy out of Orange at the minit for windows 7 and quite rightly too. Not many manufacturers have actually released drivers for windows 7 and most of the time its left to the ISP to chase them.

Thanks, I can well understand Orange's problem. I was absolutely amazed when Microsoft announced the release of Windows & in mid October.
That doesn't explain how I managed to pre-order it in early July. Of course, I and the rest of the world knew it was coming months ago. Orange could have pushed for development of suitable drivers, after all, they can't be an insignificant purchaser of dongles.
I apparently qualify for a dongle upgrade from Orange and have an E160 coming. It would seem that this might work with W7, do you know if this is correct?
I experienced the same uncertainty with the Huawei E160E Orange dongle. Nobody knew if it would work. Huawei didn't have any drivers etc etc. But I tried it with someone else's RC version of Win7 and it was fine. And when I got the Win 7 pre-order edition it worked just fine on that.
The new connection software download from www.orange.co.uk/updates (look for Connection Manager link) was even better than what came with the dongle so you might want to try that too.
Generally Win 7 is an upgrade of Vista and many drivers are the same. But Win 7 uses 32% of my 2 GB memory instead of 54% on Vista, and has 50% better battery life on my laptop. Well worth the upgrade IMHO

I've been using 7 home premium for about 6 weeks now.
Had no problems with my 160e with vista, XP, or linux netbook.
Often, with 7 after a while, connection stops working.. press disconnect.. have to wait upto 2 mins for action to take place. Can then connect again.
Have tried all of the above.. some windows 7 drivers etc would certainly be welcome.
