I've just moved back home from university to a apartment without internet yet, so as I was already an Orange mobile customer, I decided to sign onto the homemax package as I got a really good price (14 pounds pm) for it. At that time, I thought that it was a really good deal...
Once it started working, I couldn't get speeds of over 0.5mb at ANY time. So I called Orange as asked what the hell was going on. They said that they would do some line tests but after what must have been 5 line tests, still nothing has changed. I have spoken to one of the supervisors and they just say the same thing. They will escalate the situation and perform another line test.
As you can imagine, this is so frustrating and so I really want to cancel the contract, but I'd have to pay quite a hefty early termination fee so I was wondering if any of the experienced members here could advise me on anything that I could do to urge Orange to increase the speed?
I'm not 100% sure about this, but I went onto Samknows, and it says under LLU operator presence in my local exchange that Orange is active, so I would assume that I'm on the LLU network.
As for the router stats, do you mean this?
Status Up
LinkStatus Up
LinkType PPPoA
DataPath Fast
UpstreamAttenuation 135
DownstreamAttenuation 270
UpstreamNoiseMargin 310
DownstreamNoiseMargin 301
UpstreamMaxRate 1264000
DownstreamMaxRate 8960
UpstreamCurrRate 64
DownstreamCurrRate 512
UpstreamPower 102
DownstreamPower 87
Massive SNRM in both directions, downstream power is 8.7dBm when it should be around 18dBm.
You are not that far from the exchange and your line should be capable of syncing around 8000kbps.
If you have an NTE5 main BT phone socket (one with a removable lower half frontplate then plug the router into the test socket inside and take your stats again.
