I have, for as long as I can remember, been having problems with wired connections to my Livebox.
I have a PC running XP which, when connected to the Livebox, will at some random interval drop the connection. The @ light stays on, but I cannot access the internet and Outlook says it is is diconnected from the exchange server.
My PC has two NICs, and I have tried both.
I have tried the PC in both Red and Yellow Livebox ports.
I have tried running my laptop, also running XP, wired at the same time. Occasionally one will drop and the other wont.
Last night, I had both PC and Laptop connected into Yellow port via a hub, and connection dropped.
Every time the connection drops, the @ light is still on and I can connect a wireless device ok.
If I look at Network Connections when the connection has dropped - it says it is connected. But if I try to ping the Livebox - it wont. If I try to repair the network connection it returns with Limited or No Connectivity.
I have tried another third party router and get the same problems.
My assumptions are as follows (but may be wrong) :-
1. Line is ok because I can still connect wirelessly and @ light is on.
2. It is not the PC NIC, as both have the same problem.
3. It is not the PC, as the laptop goes down at the same time.
4. It is not the livebox, because the other router has the same problems.
I am now really stuck and am very fed up with this.
