So I'm another transfer to the wonders of 8mb. I'm a Freeserve'r been on 500k for ever.
Got moved across with the "up to 8mb letter" (package Broadband Max (off-net)) start of August but no improvment at all.
Been through the support desk (I was hard set to 512k, that's been changed it seems to now be 2mb)
Is the deal that I will not receive 8mb unless I sign up to another minimum term contract?
Also does repeated BT Speedtester "service busy, test error" and off-net package mean I'm running Orange LLU, how do MAC codes work?
02 are promising ADSL-2 to me and I fancy a new mobile as well (with Orange for my mobile)

BT Speed estimate - my exchange is 400m down the street
"We've just tested your line and can confirm your line supports the UK's most complete broadband package, BT Total Broadband. We estimate your maximum download connection to be up to 8.0 Mbps (Megabits per second)."

I had exactly the same problem. When I called them they tried to tell me it was because I hadn't told THEM I had upgraded. What is that all about. Got it sorted in the end but what a joke.
