Before Orange agree that they have sent me a faulty unit?
Had my livebox delivered Monday 8th August, connected it up by LAN and after about 5 attempts at installing the software and being told that my disabled firewall was still active (seems very common) I finally got a working connection. Then I put it into pairing mode and my problems started:
I have two computers, one in my spare bedroom and one is a laptop used in the living room. Both computers can see the livebox but neither will pair to it, they also see a neighbours wireless network which is set to unsecure and (rather naughtily) I can get on that network for browsing. Orange have told me it is my equipment and that they will not replace the box even though their customer service department talked me through setting my livebox to unsecure and I can still see it but not pair to it!
Last night my LAN connection stopped but the LAN "chatter" lights still flicker - even when I am not plugged in! I have uninstalled the software, reinstalled the software with the usual "cannot connect due to firewall crud", however, I go into my control panel and LAN connection status is connected, the "chatter" lights work on my ethernet card and the livebox but the two monitors in my system tray show my pc as the only box communicating, all settings are set to auto as per the Orange help section but even after a livebox reset I cannot get online. I have emailled Orange stating that I am unhappy with the quality of their customer service or the product that they supplied and have asked them if my wireless and talk package is subject to their 30 day trial policy.
Me thinks the box is kippered?...........anyone got any ideas?
Click start > run, type in "cmd", click ok, in the dos window type "ping 212.58.224.116. How many replies do you get back?
If none then type "ping 192.168.1.1". Number of replies this time?
What lights are on the livebox?
Go to network connections, right click the local area connection, click status, it should say it's connected. Click the support tab, what do the address type and IP address show?
