<Livebox Issues? ~ Liveox installed, cant open Internet Explorer?

This is probably something really simple to solve, but I have installed a Livebox to my Dell Inspiron laptop. The computer and the livebox have paired and can see each other, but when I click on connect, or open up Internet Explorer, it says no connection. Do I need to change the logon settings somehow so that it knows it is connecting through the livebox?
The installation CD does not appear to be working as it starts, but then when you click on next it wont go any further so I have not been able to see the whole thing on screen.
Would be very grateful for any help that any body can give to me.
do you get access to your emails if not make sure that the settings are changed in security to 128 as my dell was set to other even thow it could see the live box
