since i got my phone in february, i paired it to my livebox because i dont have any normal signal strength so use the wifi connection to make calls and texts.
This has worked perfectly automatically connecting when i get home till 2 weeks ago when the connection went off, and wouldnt reconnect. i deleted the connection and tried to establish a new one, wpa or wep, wpa. or wep didnt work, but a week later it did and the connection worked for a full week till this weekend when it went off and refuses to connect, saying network connection failure.
i have tried all permutaions ie unsecured, wpa or wep, wpa only and wep only none have worked.
i have read a similar thread but no solution was mentioned so if anyone can offer any advice, im thinking that the livebox could have been updated which has mesed pairing up?????
ps a do press the pairing button and know the wep key is correct and in the proper case
not yet, as im not really a techie and dont want to bugger things up that i cant sort out. the connection to my laptop hasnt been affected its just the wifi connection to my phone.
forgive my ignorance but what are the chanels for and how would it affect signal connections?

If I'm correct, each channel has a different frequency in which it's transmitted. Some frequencies could somtimes clash with other wifi devices nearby (neighbours wireless connections etc...).
By changing channels, there is a chance the interference will be minimised. And it's not that difficult to do; just go into the configuration menu (of the LiveBox), password is 'admin', click on 'wifi settings', and you should be able to see the current channel which you're on. Just click on the arrow and select a different one; try about 3 channels forward or backwards - i.e. if it's on 6, try 9 or 10.
I have found that channel 11 is normally good. Most people don't even bother to change from the router default which in most products is channel 1 so inevitably there are clashes in densely populated areas particularly in apartment blocks.
many apologies, in my haste changing the chanels i forgot to press the pairing button, i did say i wasnt a techie . so i tried it with pairing turned on and again it said network connection failed so i turned my phone and livebox off and on and tried one last time and it has connected successfully, although i did manage to connect on saturday but it only lasted some 8 hours before it lost connection.
hopefully the problem is now cured and at last i have a moby signal again.
thanks for your assistance in this matter and the metageek prog is brill, i had no idea so many wireless comps were in the vacinity
