My wife has just got a new Iphone and we are trying to set it up to receive email from her Orange email account. I have the account set up on an old o2 (now Sky) XDA smartphone and it works just fine. However, when I set it up on the iphone it keeps throwing up an error when it connects to the Orange pop3 server.

The settings are:
incoming mail server : pop.orangehome.co.uk
user name : username.freeserve.co.uk
password : ********

Outgoing mail sever: smtp.o2 (now Sky).co.uk

Advanced settings are:
Not using SSL
Password Authentication
Server Port 110

As far as I can tell this should work fine, however, when I try and get messages it says
The connection to the server "pop.orangehome.co.uk" failed.

I am baffled, I tried another email account and it worked fine so the phone is ok.

Hi zaphod,

I see that no one replied to your post but I wondered if you'd had any success in resolving the issue, as I have the same one.

I can't receive mail from the POP server (can't actually connect to it!) when not connected to my home (Orange) WiFi, constantly getting this message 'The connection to the server "pop.orangehome.co.uk" failed.' But when I connect to WiFi it works no problem. I also have issues sending mail too, but one step at a time.

Any useful information would be much appreciated,
