I got free 8mb bb with Orange with my phone contract about 1-2 weeks ago.
Firstly, it was a ballache to install, the setup cd is a load of sh*te to put it plainly.
Then i was getting some 'Unable to authenticate' error and then PPP server down etc.. So i have just been using my existing NTL broadband connection because i couldnt be bothered messin about.
Got home today and decided to try again ....... PPP server down! So i dug out my BT voyager router (which is now 3 years old). Plugged it in, enter account details and BOOM! online and working in < 1 minute !
I think half these problems are to do with this sh*tty livebox.
My advice would be to lend/buy a cheap modem or router and see if you can get connected. I will see how this goes now and see if its stable. Will let you know in due course.
Some liveboxes seem to work and some dont. I have had 3 liveboxes. The first one corrupt intself, the second one wihch I got at easter works flawlessly , the last one Orange sent when I sighed up to the free broadband, and the WI-Fi doesnt work.
I have no real need for wireless at the moment hence why i cant even be bothering ringing Orange about the livebox. I have some cat5 run through the house which is great so wireless is just a nice-to-have for me.
I have had a run in with Orange a few years back (they got the baliffs onto me even though they owed me money !), needless to say it cost them a few £ once my solicitor got involved.
I have found their support in general is either good or really really really really sh*te ! Nothing inbetween.
