On Sunday I recived about 3000 messages , all similer mail delivery failed.
I called Orange and was told it was a problem they were aware of and trying to resolve.
I`ve managed to delete them all and so far have not had the same problem.
Why did it happen, will it happen again, was it really a problem with Orange.
Any advice much appreciated.
Thanks
I have been a user since the first days of Freeserve, and not had anything material to complain about.
However, over the last couple of years I have been getting increasing amounts of spam, I have found various ways of coping, but today I logged in and found 14,016 mails after having been off for 3 days.
Simple solution would be to just get Orange to cancel my domain name and give me a new one. I tried!!! India did not understand what I was talking about so I redialled and went for customer retention. I explained the problem and my solution (again) and the guy “what you want isn’t impossible but we won’t do it”. I have absolutely no idea what this means. When I asked to talk to a supervisor, he said there wasn't one who would take my call but he offered me a callback within 48 hours - what an insult!
I can just about cope with this volume ATM, but what happens when I am out of the country for 6 weeks as I will be shortly? That will be 200,000 mails to download and process - I think not.
Please, can anyone help me with this? I do not really want to change ISP's but Orange seems set on making that decision for me.

The simplest solution is simply to abandon your Orange email address and either use one of the free services (I use Gmail, which I find excellent, and which can easily be used with POP or IMAP) or buy your own domain name.
The only problem with doing this is that Orange won't send account emails to any other than the "official" account address (unbelieveable, really, given that their accounts seem for some reason to have a magnetic effect on spam and that they won't issue a new address). I therefore have to continue to monitor an address I haven't used for any other purpose for over five years. I find, though, that by using the webmail spam filters I can get rid of all but a handful of spam messages - fewer than five a day, certainly. I don't need to worry about what the filters do, because the only legitimate mail is Orange's. Mind you, I wouldn't put it past them to filter their own messages as spam...
Simon,
Thanks for that, but I did it years ago. I Have EmailTracker Pro which has great filters and deletes spam on the server. However, it is prone to deciding not to work - which is why I have 14,016 emails which I have to download for the mail client to use its filters. Orange's mail server never stays up long enough to complete, so I have to babysit the b***ard!!
If I could rely on ETP, there wouldn't be an issue..............but I can't

But have you used the filters on Orange webmail? (https://web.orange.co.uk). These seem to work very well - I was regularly getting 1000 emails a day until I set these. They probably would get rid of a lot of legitimate mail, but if using the account only for Orange's messages this obviously isn't a problem.

You could either contact Customer Support by telephone, or send an email
http://www.orange.co.uk/knowle...ormWBO.cfm asking Orange to update your contact email address, which the agents can do via Customer Centre
