If you are getting poor speeds on LLU name and shame your exchange here.
Starting with mine:
Weston-super-Mare - speeds 2.2 - 2.7
Orange will then know which exchanges they have to work on - probably all of them. These posts will also show which exchanges have Orange LLU, details of which Orange do not fully publish.
I have read on another newsgroup that Orange TS are saying:
"That the only `deliberate` capping in place is where users abuse the limits". A fault was raised for that exchange - result awaited.
Keith

It is now clear that if you are on Orange LLU anywhere in the country the best speed you will get is 2.7 if you are lucky. Otherwise it will be considerably slower.
29 April 2007 - All of a sudden speeds are increasing
May 2007 - Many slow speeds reported both LLU and Max.
11 June 2007 - Various reports of LLU Speeds Increasing
18 June 2007 - Whilst some speeds are better, there are still reports of very slow speeds.
21 April 2008 ADSL2+ arriving and speeds increasing.
18 September 2008 - Reports of speeds dropping to 0.5 after reasonable speeds. Orange response: that is the best you can get. Customers leaving and then obtaining very good speeds with new ISP.

As far as I'm concerned they have NO faults on their exchanges, they KNOW what the problem is and they are not going to fix it. And yes capping is in place, be also aware that they are traffic shaping too (this is to be officially confirmed).

My exchange is New Southgate, North London. my speeds are 0.4 to 2.1 (should be 8meg.)depending on time of day. I was told that my speed has been capped due to traffic backing up on the exchange, and to watch this space (might as well look up into the stars to watch for flying oranges.) for future developments. However, when i did mention that this was totally out of order and that they are still taking full payments, they gave me 3 months free internet use, and promised things will be sorted out before the end of the 3 months.(haven't we all heard this story before?) obviously i took it and ran quickly. (my contact runs out in 3 months. he! he!)
peop is correct things are being shaped to what suits them.
A very good friend of mine works for cable and wireless, and also do's freelance service and maintenance for the major telecommunication companies, he has checked out my line and exchange, and tell's me that my line is easily able to carry a minimum of 4.5 kbps, so i should'nt be experiencing such dramatic drops in my speed.irrespective of the time of day, a small drop yes, (B.T. exchange checker also confirms this.) He also can't see why anyone has reason to cap the limits, (He has heard of things in the pipeline for the use of internet services and providers in this country, but could'nt be more specific at this present time, but will inform me as soon as he know's, then obviously i'll inform you/us.) he's also noticed the capping in many exchanges through out the country. definitely, mostly all to do with Orange
B.T. was at one point in dispute with French tele communications company FREE (which owns Orange) over the maintenance and servicing of their equipment, due to higher than expected cost's of that side of things, so whether they are penalizing each other ? who knows. But the plot could thicken yet ! maybe............
We all know what our Frog sorry French neighbours can do when things don't go their way, ask any U.K. continental lorry driver, U.K. farmer or the U.K. ferry operators.

Jumped between 0.4 and 2.7 until I complained. Now seems a steady 2.6Mb with the occasional small dip, but it's still not "at least 5Mb" as said by the Orange linechecker.
I now have 2 months free due to my complaint to Customer Services last night. I may yet use the phone number given by Ian ...
Hi you can add Maghull to that list, ever since the LLU upgrade the service has been slow slow and slow, last time I spoke to Customer Services they admitted they have issues in 4 areas Liverpool being one.
my speeds range from 200kb/s to 1.4mb/s and its not just me a few reletives and friends are on same exchange and experiencing similar, plus slow surfing adn random disconnections.
My Exchange is PENDLETON (Manchester)
Router shows connected at 8128 Kbps Downstream and 288 Kbps Upstream.
BT Wholesale shows my line capable of 6 mg.
Best speed i've ever had is 2.7 mg
When it works it's 2.4 mg.
Probably capped !
I would suggest you will only get people confirming exchange problems if they are actually still WITH Orange and the problem lies WITH the exchange... i moved from "the bright ones", my exchange worked fine until they screwed it up with their NON WORKING LLU equipment !!
Its totally different to the exchange not working....
So maybe everyone can confirm when their speed dropped and why?
Mine was the Orange " UPGRADE" . its a complete joke ... they have shafted everyone basically !!
It appear from this thread that only 12 exchanges have a problem.
Therefore there is no reason why Orange should think that they have a problem.
Keith
Unfortunately I don't think this is so, if you was to peruse the rest of the forum you will find many others with the same problems- unless theres effort to promote polls people just can't be bothered with voting, the total numbers are disappointing. However, What the polls do show is the small amount of people who have voted they certainly don't get anyway near 8 Meg...This statement of getting up to 8 meg is surely a lie? Its not attainable with Orange!
