For the past few days my download speed has been stuck at a firm 50 kbps (its usually around 350kbps as my data rate is 3.7mbps). I honestly can't pin point what it is so im wondering if it's Orange. Connection occasionally drops too, but that is intermittant.
Data rate as showing on my router: 3776 downstream, 448 upstream
Router doesn't show attenuation etc.
It's strange how it sticks at 50kbps download though even though my router is showing a full data rate connection.
Tried restarting router, changing filters etc but to no avail, have one computer physically wired to router, occasionally a laptop on wireless.
got excatly the same problem, download speed is at a constant 50kb/sec from the usual 400, and speed test results are coming out as my connection is 0.3 mb/s when i should be getting 8.....
internet is unusable if more than one computer is using it at the same time and incredibly slow with just one computer
Exactly the same behaviour as described by other. Anybody found a solution?
If this goes on i am going to have to play musical chairs on the Orange website and try to send them an email. I know i will have to do really well to not get directed to FAQs and actually get a reply but needs must.
Problem is fixed now. For me it was because of BT Redcare we had installed recently. The special filter it's internal phone uses to automatically call the local police station was faulty, thus corrupting my data transmission. This in turn made Orange switch my ADSL type to interleaved which attenuated the corruptions but slowed down the speed to what it was.
Since then BT have installed a new filter and it appears to be fine.
Thanks.
Same problem here. Last few days the broadband connection has been painfully slow. Normally get around 5mb/s but since the weekend it has been around 0.3-0.5! Rubbish. Not sure if phoning them will help (dreading being placed on hold for an hour and getting a big bill for it) but getting seriously annoyed with it so far.
Heeeelp!
