Please can anyone help?
8 days ago, I tried to use the telephone plugged into my livebox, and found it was completely dead.
I contacted the Orange helpline, and they reckoned it was the phone adapter that had failed (unlikely eh?)
I have plugged the phone directly into a BT wall socket and it's fine, so the handset is ok. I've plugged the phone with the adapter into the adsl on the splitter and it works. The phone also works when plugged into the Livebox if I disconnect the power, so I get a BT line. The Phone light on the Livebox is on. I have Re-bootrd the Livebox several times.
Orange now want me to restore to factory settings although I'm reluctant as I had problems with initial set up.
Any suggestions please. I'd like to make some phone calls, but can't see how resetting the Livebox will help.
Thanks
sounds like the livebox is a dud
however if you dont factory reset then their is no way they will replace it for you
you don't have to run setup all again
hold turn off the livebox power
hold button 1 and keep it held while turning the power back on, keep it held untill all the lights come on
wait till it starts up (lots of light flash)
the wireless light will continue to flash, now go to every computer, psp, pda etc that connects wirelessly and just open a browser page on each so the livebox recognises each device
this has to be done in 10 minutes, if you run out of time just press button 1 to get another 10 minutes of pairing
Thanks for the advice. I'll just have to be brave and have a go at resetting the Livebox as you suggest. The problem I had previously was setting up the wireless connection to the laptop. The wired connection worked fine. I followed all of the guide instructions, but still spent about 4 hours trying to make it work. Obviously it did eventually work, but I don't know to this day how I did it. It just suddenly started working.
Anyway thanks for your words of wisdom, and I will try to reset to factory settings.
Personally, i found the "pairing mode" to be the cause of a lot of problems with the livebox setup. Also, it is completely pointless, as long as you are using WEP or WPA security there is no reason why you need limited pairing time, as all other wireless routers are able to pair indefinately
Go into your livebox settings page and turn the pairing time on to "--" which means infinite, then you wont have to press the pairing button when setting up a new connection
I found this made setting up new wireless connections work instantly

the pairing mode is an easy way to have MAC filtering
other routers allow you to enter new macs into a table, with the livebox you have to use pairing
sure you don't need it but there is no harm in enabling it

Found pairing a real pain here to. If you have more than 1 PC to connect OR have problems getting a conenction, setting to "forever pair" makes life so much easier in the long run

Thanks to all who are replying to help me with my phone problems on the Livebox.
I'm going to reset to factory settings (although I have my doubts that it will solve the problem). I'm going to wait until I have a few hours free at the weekend, as I know it's going to take some time, and I don't want to start the procedure when I'm in a rush. Ok I admit it, the idea makes me nervous as I'm fairly inexperienced in all this.
Anyway, thanks to you all for you support. I only wish Orange could have been so supportive.
I'll let you know what happens.
Stu
