I'm sure there's probably someone on here who's had a very similar problem but I can't find a relevant post, so apologies if I'm repeating things!
I've had my Livebox for just over a year now and it's worked fine with my PC through a wired connection and with my PS3 with a wireless connection, until earlier this week.
We had a very short power cut on Wednesday night (for about 2 seconds). Both my PC and Livebox were plugged in and I was on the internet at the time.
Ever since it happened I have not been able to connect to the internet on my PC through the wired connection but my PS3 still works fine if I want to connect to the internet.
My PC recognises when I plug in and unplugged the ethernet cable from the Livebox but I cannot go to the webpage 192.168.1 (can't remember what exactly it is, but I have got it on a note at home, in case something like this happened!)
I have tried to re-install the Livebox software but I get an error message saying the software is meant for 'Windows XP SP1+' so it won't let me go into the software. I really don't understand this one as I'm on SP3 and it's a legitmate version so surely it should work?!
I can normally sort stuff like this out but I'm completely stumped on this one!
Fire up a command prompt (start, run and enter 'cmd.exe' ). At the command prompt type 'ipconfig /all' (no quotes) and press enter. It should look something like :
Thanl you for your reply, I have run that and got a screen up. However, I can't get a screen print of it on here as my PC's not connected to the internet (I'm on my phone at the moment!) So if you could tell me which line(s) you need to know I can tell you what they say.
Thank you again
And post what you get on here.[/quote]
In the 'paragraph' pertaining to your wired interface (usually not necessarily the only one with an IP address) anything that differs from the screen shot I posted. Clues as to the status of the network interface, DHCP and IP addresses.
I'm making the broad assumption that the livebox is connected by a LAN cable.

Sounds like your Net card has blown in the powercut. (assuming the bridge is the only thing shown)
Go to Control Panel, and System (Its in Performance and Maintainance In the default view of control panel or directly in Classic view), Hardware, Device Manager. You should have a Network Adapter Showing as in this screen shot:
If not your system doesn't have a network interface and its likely your Net card has blown. Is it a desktop or laptop machine ?
In that case we need the figures from ipconfig /all pertaining to the "Via compatible fast ethernet adapter" The 1394 is firewire, often used for digital video cameras and the Bridge is a virtual adapter usually used for internet sharing. If it all scrolls past the window so you can't read it you can use 'ipconfig /all|more' ( the | is on the shifted \ key next to Z on a UK keyboard ), It presents it a page at a time and you press return/enter to go to the next.
I can't see any obvious info on the ipconfig/all screen about the 'VIA compatible fast ethernet adapter'. There's no mention of it, will it be called something else or do I need to run a different command? I don't have another cable at moment but I have tried the other port with no success.
If it doesn't, there is a high likelihood that the network card is fried. Assuming its a reasonably modern desktop machine (less than 10 years old) you want something like http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Network-...=72%3A1683|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318
in the description line it only says: 'MAC Bridge Miniport' and nothing else. There's no red or yellow marker in device manager, so looks like I'll be buying a card. I've installed RAM on my PC, is it as easy as that? Forgot to say before that it's a desktop.
If you stick to 'mature' network cards like my link theres a good chance your computer will just find it and work without messing with drivers. Its no more difficult than installing RAM. If you buy a new design type of network card (like a gigabit speed one) you'll probably need to install drivers from the CD you get with the card. A new high speed one won't buy you anything extra for broadband use. If you can borrow another computer before you commit yourself you'll be able to confirm the Livebox is still working. But from here it looks like your network card.
I've managed to get my (very) old PC up and running on the Livebox so it would seems almost certain that it is my network card that's blown from what you've said.
It's funny getting help from forums, normally when people help with stuff you can buy them a pint or two!
