Hi
I am in the process of having to change my current Broad band (with BT) and phone line . Due to a change of jobs
I currently only get around 1.8 mb download from this set up although all the sites say the line is capable of 7mb
The Orange Max deal looks good value but IO am concerned about locking into something where (from reading the forums) seems to have lots of issues.
I have two pc's a laptop and a PS3 connected to the BB and work from home so need a reliable connection. The exchange is Swadlincote which was enabled for Orange last year 1/08 does anyone else use this and have any feedback?
I would also be looking to use the second line facility ...is that reliable?
Appreciate any suggestions or thoughts
Cheers
Glyn

This has been said on this forum many, many times.
If your livelihood depends on a broadband connection then you need a good business package ISP. It will cost you more but you will have a service agreement which will guarantee not to leave you without a connection for an unspecified period of time.
These business packages are supplied by ISPs other than the normal ones.
If your business is important to you then £30 to £40 per month is worth it.
For me the package taken as a whole is brilliant.
The 2nd line works very well and the broadband is about as good as I would get from any of the "budget" providers.
I pay £17 per month for home max, again for me it is exceptional value, line rental and all calls included.
The trick to dealing with Orange is be persistant, don't let them fob you off.
If you have a problem ring them every day, speak to escalations don't take no for an answer. It's easy to baffle the offshore bods as they are only working from a script, ask them a question they can't answer, they'll soon transfer you.
I wouldn't be scared of signing up with them, but make sure you check the speed they are promising you before you comit to contract and make sure you get that promised speed.
Also you don't have to have an 0845 number for your second line, they have a limited number of 01/02 numbers.
