My housemate and I have moved to a new house which doesn't have a BT phone line, so we don't want to continue with our Orange broadband.
Upon ringing them up they told us this would be subject to a £140 cancellation fee.
I'm not sure about the legality of the contract as we never signed it - it belonged to an old housemate of ours who moved out in December so we agreed to take it over from him (thinking it was a rolling contract rather than an 18 mth one) and just sent a letter.
So it's been switched into my housemate's name.
Is there any other way out or legal loopholes? We didn't know what we were taking over. They don't even know our new address...
