my internet connection and speed is brilliant until about 7PM when my ps3 can still connect to the internet and playstation network however when trying to connect to online games on COD4 and COD5, I just can't get in. This problem happens every day from about 7PM to 1130PM.
Any1 havin similar problems ? and can this problem be fixed in anyway way ?
ive heard that replaceing my livebox with another router may help but I want to know other solutions before forking out £60-£80 on a new router.
I'm having an problem very similar to this, but for the Xbox 360. It started at about 8 o'clock, but lately its been earlier 7 o'clock and before. I keep e-mailing Orange about it, but they give no help what-so-ever. My read out from my Livebox is:
ADSL firmware version : A2pBT009c1.d17d
Connection mode : G.DMT
Type : Fast
Noise margin (dB) : 30.1
Attenuation (dB) : 22.0
Attainable download rate (kbps) : 9952
ADSL status : Connected [0]
Downstream Upstream
Rate (kbps) 2272 288
I really hope there is some fix to this, because the lag is unbearable.
My guess is that Orange have capped you at 2Mb (2272 downstream) by manipulating your Target SNR to give you SNRM of 30.1dB. With an Attenuation of 22.0dB you should be seeing at least 6500kbps.
There's obviously something wrong at the exchange LLU as you're not on ADSL2+ and the router is showing an attainable of 9952.

Could you plaease tell me how you get a read out from the livebox? Ithink Orange have capped me at 2mb or slower aswell.
Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test: -provides background information.
Your DSL connection rate: 1440 kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP profile for your line is - 1000 kbps
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 910 kbps
don't really understand whether this is good or bad and any explanations why my internet connection drops at night ?
YourIP profile, 1000kbps, is a little low for your DSL rate, 1440kbps but the throughput, 910kbps, is OK for the IP profile.
If you have a main BT socket which has a removable lower half frontplate, take this off and plug the router into the test socket inside.
Then take your router stats and speedtester.BT.com results from there and post again.
But I think your main problem is being so far from your local exchange, put your details into this >>>> http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/ads...hecker.php
and in the Exchange Information section it will tell you how far you are from it.
i have plugged my router into the test socket in my house by removing the lower face plate. these are the read out results from my livebox now:
ADSL firmware version : A2pBT009c1.d17d
Connection mode :G.DMT
Type :Interleave
Noise margin (dB) :8.7
Attenuation (dB) :57.0
Attainable download rate (kbps) :2688
ADSL status :Connected [0]
Downstream Upstream
Rate (kbps) 2400 448
i went onto www.kitz.co.uk and entered my information. exchange information concluded that im 2.83km away from the local exchange (4.02km by road)
i can see that the downstream rate has heavily increased, as so has the attainable download rate, are these results good and is the distance from the exchange good or bad ?
Dont worry about it. My connection is perfectly fine now and i can play on my playstation 3 aswell now. The only thing is that ive left the router plugged into the test socket, does this matter or does it need to be removed?
I think the problem that was slowing my connection down was that I have an extension running from the main socket to the living room which is where the router is normally plugged in. I think it was this extension wire that was slowing it down but I do not know why. This extension was fitted by BT

I found out that apparently BT didn't tell Orange that my exchange got updated back in 2006! So now I have to wait till Wednesday till it gets updated. I'll post my readout on Wednesday to see if everything is all right

Your DSL connection rate: 8096 kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP profile for your line is - 7000 kbps
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 5230 kbps
Now what i'm concerned with, is that it says Type: Interleave.
And on Xbox Live, I'm just in an ordinary party, and peoples voice's are lagging still. Should it be?
